- Blackware Pottery and Mata Ortiz: We have a nice selection of both Lawrence Vargas Blackware and Mata Ortiz pottery. Lawrence is a nationally acclaimed artist from New Mexico who creates pieces representing his unique blend of Southwest cultures. His pieces are sold exclusively at the West. Our Mata Ortiz pottery is purchased directly from the artists in Chihuahua, Mexico. Each piece is a signed work of art formed and painted by hand using only local materials.
